Men and women are equal. They deserve to be viewed as equal in all areas of life. Maybe someday the world will see that.  In today’s modern world, because of misinterpretation of religious doctrines, women are often kept down, subordinate to men, under the guise of “faith.” Society itself hinders gender equality, through social norms and unequal treatment of women in the job market, as mothers, and as women. Rather than seeing her as someone’s mother, daughter, sister, or friend: simply see her as someone. Stereotypes and gender roles do not aid in gender equality, but maintain the inequality that is set in place. Gender equality has not been reached, but many movements have taken it upon themselves to ensure that women receive equal rights as men.
